Pickering
North Yorkshire Moors Steam Railway
Take a ride on the steam railway from Pickering all the way to Whitby. You can hop off along the route at many beautiful villages including Gothland (Aidensfield in Heartbeat), Grosmont & Levisham.
Beck Isle Museum
Beck Isle Museum of Rural Life is a social history museum in Pickering. The museum features period business displays including the shops of a barber, blacksmith, chemist, cobbler, cooper, printer, gentleman's draper, dairy and hardware store.
Pickering Castle
This English Heritage 13th Century castle was once a royal hunting lodge and also a stud farm by a medieval succession of kings.

One of the UKs best loved historical houses. The house and gardens are a must visit for anyone in the area.

York City
Visit the truly historic city of York. You can visit many attractions from the Yorvik Viking Center or discover the grizly past in the York Dungeons. If Vikings and dungeons are not your thing, York's high street and independant shops are a must for the shopacholics amongst us. York Minster stands tall over the city and is an impressive sight.
